Blake grew up in southern Maryland and spent most of her childhood in a ballet studio. She’s always been physically active, dabbling in various sports and activities, but it wasn’t until she was in her early 20’s when she took her very first hot vinyasa class (at Zen nonetheless) and it was love at first Surya Namaskar.
Since then, Blake has committed to regular practice of multi-styled yoga, drawing inspiration from a variety of lineages as well as her dance background. Her classes reflect her own practice and are generally vigorous, but always welcoming to all levels and abilities. Blake encourages her students to find the balance between effort and ease as they connect to their breath, switch from thinking to feeling, and most of all, smile and have fun! After all, the physical practice is just the tip of the iceberg.
Blake received her 200hr training from Yax Yoga Concepts of Hot House in Virginia Beach. She is also a trained Rocket Yoga instructor through David Kyle and Little River Yoga of Arlington, VA; a certified Pranassage® practitioner by the Nosara Yoga Institute of Costa Rica and Ann Hunt Yoga; and has completed advanced training and education in Multi-dimensional Anatomy and Yoga Therapeutics with Sarah Tacy Tangredi and Evolve Yoga + Wellness in California, MD. In addition, she created and led a yoga program (“Mobility WOD”) at local CrossFit facilities in her hometown area.
When she’s not on her mat or playing around in a handstand, Blake enjoys skiing, cooking, and going on adventures with her husband and two dogs.
